The brain is a complex organ which contributes so much to our lives, whether we're healthy or sick. The Wu Tsai Neurosciences Institute at Stanford brings together researchers from diverse disciplines to be at the forefront of neuroscience research.
Just like the brain, the research is complex. That means the Neurosciences website is complex. They offer resources such as grants, training, community laboratories, events, and news and podcasts.
After supporting their Drupal 7 website, Wu Tsai was ready to begin migration to Drupal 9. Knowing the complexity of their content, they wanted to start with a full content audit discovery. Which was music to our ears!
We firmly believe that migrations are the perfect time to revisit your content. It's like moving to a new house: why move a bunch of boxes of stuff you want to get rid of any way? On top of that, moving to a new house gives you a chance to reconsider your organizational structure. As you pack things up to move, you can recategorize all your stuff. Maybe your new house has an office, whereas in your old house you were working out of a guest room! This is a great chance to untangle all the things that have gotten mized up in your previous space.
So, we spent several weeks with the Wu Tsai team reviewing everything on the old site. And as we did so, a new structure became clear. We were able to prioritize critical programs, and create clear connections between content types, to show the interconnection of all the work they do.
Wu Tsai is at the forefront of important research about neurosciences, and their website will now be able to show all the intricacies of that work and reach more researchers than ever.
